Below you will find answers to many common questions about F&M's Day of Giving 2021.
What is F&M's Day of Giving?
F&M's Day of Giving is a chance for alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends to come together to make a difference for current and future students. Because at F&M we always go big, our "Day of Giving" actually spans from 10 a.m. eastern daylight time on April 13 to 3:47 PM eastern daylight time on April 14: a full 1,787 minutes! Our goal is to inspire Diplomats from across the globe to make 1,787 gifts to support the programs, activities and departments that define an F&M experience.
Where does my gift go?
That's up to you! When you make your gift, you can choose exactly what area of F&M you'd like to support. Want to give to the academic department of your major? Great! Were you the beneficiary of financial aid? You can give to that too! Want to support diversity and inclusion initiatives? No problem! Was your athletic experience at F&M meaningful to you? Your team would be grateful for your support! Don't see the area you'd like to support? Select "Other" from the "Fund Designation" list and write where you'd like to designate your gift.
How does my giving make a difference?
Gifts of any size make a difference by providing funds that could be spent right away on the most pressing needs of the College. F&M relies on your annual gifts because endowment funding and tuition do not cover the entire cost of an F&M education, and endowment funds—while absolutely critical to the mission of the College—are often limited to specific areas. Your support on Day of Giving allows F&M to respond nimbly to opportunities and needs as they arise.
How can I help spread the word?
To reach our goal, we need your help! You can sign up to become a Day of Giving ambassador to help us reach as many Diplomats as possible. We'll give you everything you need to succeed, including images, suggested text and training. You can even track how many clicks and gifts you generate! Not ready to become an Ambassador? That's ok! After you give, click on one of the social icons and let your network know that you went #allin4fandm!
I've heard something about "challenge" gifts. What are they?
As part of Day of Giving, several members of the F&M community have stepped up to incentivize others to make a gift by providing challenge or matching funds. For example, a member of the class of 1990 might offer $10,000 that would be unlocked if 50 members of her class also made gifts of any size. Or a parent of a member of the field hockey team might offer to give $100 for each gift of any size made to field hockey during Day of Giving. Interested in making a challenge gift of your own? Contact Ramy Rahal at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 717.358.4757. He can walk through the details of the challenge you would like to set up.
I'd like to make my own challenge gift. How can I do that?
Thanks for your willingness to go even more than #Allin4FandM! If you would like to challenge your fellow Diplomats, please contact Ramy Rahal at email@example.com or by phone at 717.358.4757. He can walk through the details of the challenge you would like to set up. As with making your gift, challenges can take many different shapes and forms and support the area of your choice, and anyone can start one. Want to challenge your class year to unlock funds? We can do that. Do you want to see how #fandmproud your athletics team is? Let's work together to make that a reality!
What if I already gave to F&M this year?
First, thank you! We hope you'll consider making another gift this year in support of F&M students as part of Day of Giving. If you choose not to do so, please know that all of us at F&M are grateful for your support. You can still help Day of Giving be a success by helping to spread the word on social media or, better yet, by signing up to be an ambassador by clicking this link.
If I give now, will my gift count toward Day of Giving totals?
Absolutely! We will make sure that all gifts made through this site beginning now all the way through 3:47 PM on April 14 are counted toward the final donor total.
Is it safe to make my gift online?
After selecting "Make My Gift", you will be redirected to a secure giving form hosted by PayPal (no fees will be passed on the donor). Our giving platform uses HTTPS communications protocol to securely encrypt data and keep personal information as secure as possible.
Is there a minimum gift amount?
While there is no minimum gift, we suggest a minimum donation of $5.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Franklin & Marshall College is a registered 501(c)(3). Since no goods or services will be provided as part of Day of Giving, your gift will be tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You will be emailed a receipt for your tax records immediately upon making your gift. If you require a print copy mailed to you, you may request one by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I make my gift by phone?
Yes! If you would prefer to make your gift by phone, you may do so by calling 800.955.6654. Gifts made by phone by 3:47 PM eastern daylight time on April 14 that reference Day of Giving will be counted in Day of Giving totals.
Can I make my gift by mail?
Yes! Checks by mail may be sent to:
Franklin & Marshall College
Office of Annual Giving
P.O. Box 3003
Lancaster, PA 17604-3003
Checks should be made out to Franklin & Marshall College with any special designation written in the memo line or on a note included with your check.
